Assistant Principal Address
It is with great pride and excitement that I write this message to you as the Assistant Principal of Lautoka Andhra Sangam College. I am excited and honoured to have the opportunity to teach in a school with such a rich tradition both in and out of the classroom.
The pandemic has impacted everyone at different levels, we see this moment as an opportunity to rethink, reunite and thrive for the well-being of our students. Instead of focusing on the downside, we process what we have learned and experienced during this difficult time and realize that nothing could be more important than social-emotional wellness. During this turbulent time, social and emotional skills are more critical than ever. Social Emotional is the process by which people learn to understand and manage their emotions, set goals and make decisions, and engage in positive relationships
The students at LASCO are offered many opportunities to explore their interests and investigate new ideas. Students are encouraged to think critically and creatively and they are provided with authentic learning experiences. Many of our students are involved in a variety of extracurricular activities that allow them the opportunity to grow at their own pace in a safe, nurturing environment. The re- introduction of the fortnightly cultural programs this year has provided a great platform, whereby students learn about the different cultures in Fiji and display an array of talents through dance and drama. All religious festivals are celebrated in the school with much fun and fare.
At Andhra College we believe that it is important for our students to be connected to school through positive relationships and a strong sense of community. I believe that every student can learn and be successful if provided the right supports and opportunities. Our teachers and staff are committed to providing all students with an appropriate and challenging educational experience in a respectful environment that fosters learning and growth.We also provide an extensive range of extra-curricular activities to suit all tastes and interests, from the areas of Sports, Mathematics /science Competitions and Duke of Edinburgh international award program.
A crucial part of success for students is attendance. As a parent or guardian it is essential for you to maintain an attitude that “Every Day Counts” for students to be in school and ready to learn each day. At Andhra , we will assist in helping parents and families understand the importance of instructional time and school attendance. Additionally, we recognize that family and community support are integral to our success. Parents/Guardians play the most important roles in a student’s success and I invite you to collaborate with us in your students’ education.
