Department of Languages

Ensure access to quality English,Hindi and Vosa Vakaviti with relevant and responsive curriculum whereby students appreciate the study of the three languages.

To assist students to reach their potential by providing programmes that engage students as active participants in the 3 main languages and develop skills to nurture independent learning.

Fiji is a multilingual society and the department plays a key role in trying to bridge the gap that exists between the different cultures as a result of language barriers.

For this reason,  the department focuses mainly on: 

1. Promoting the correct use of English in different situations
2. Helping develop the 4 basic skills reading, listening, speaking & writing.
3. Guiding students to be confident, independent and critical thinkers
4. Exposing students to the vernaculars through the classes conducted or extra-curricular activities.

The idea is not only to focus on the academic  aspect but also in nurturing life long learning abilities
