Greetings to everyone from the Social Science Department of Lautoka Andhra Sangam College.

The Social Science Department at LASCO, through its highly qualified teachers, offers subjects like Social Science for years 9 – 10 and History and Geography for years 11 -13. As a department, we are passionate about educating students on themes like Climate Change vulnerability and mitigation, environment conservation, cultural integration, governance, human rights, elections, diplomacy, Fiji’s history, world history, Pacific history and skill development in map reading, resource interpretation, graphical interpretation.

Throughout the year, the students engage in various curricular and extracurricular activities such as Climate Change Olympiad Program, mock elections, parliament bus drive programs, oratories, essay competitions, poster competitions, and video competitions. Students have seen a lot of accomplishments in such competitions.

Yearly celebrations for the department include the likes Girmit Diwas, Constitution Day and Fiji Day. The Department also carries out awareness on various United Nations Days related to the Social Science discipline.

The department conducts most of its lessons from a lab equipped with reference books, atlas, globes and smart tv so that students can actively participate in the lessons.
